Course Description:
Many clinicians do not provide sufficient attention to the conflicts and challenges of parental tasks with adolescents and their families particularly the conflictual nature of the mother daughter relationship.
Upon completion of this activity:
1. Participants will be able to describe the developmental tasks of adolescence.
2. Participants will be able to discuss the Persophone myth as described by Drs. Holtzman and Kulish (1998/Int Journal of Psychoanalysis).
3. Participants will be able to discuss the Novicks' ideas about the necessary transformations in the relationship between parents and adolescents.
4. Participants will be able to explain the conflictual nature of the mother-daughter relationship during adolescence.
