Course Description:
Trauma treatment is moving towards holistic and person- centered modalities. Trauma sensitive yoga is being utilized in counseling sessions, bodywork, massage therapy, somatic therapy, and traditional yoga classes. In this course students will learn about the latest studies in neuroscience research. This research shows how interventions that practice focusing our attention on breath and internal bodily sensations, it changes our brain, strengthening the experiential attention neural pathway. In this way, perceptual experiences are heightened and it becomes easier for us to access these pathways as we integrate this attention to internal experience into our daily lives. Information on the practice of trauma sensitive yoga and how this might be incorporated into a practitioner's practice will be provided and practiced during this session.
