Course Description:

In 2018, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) worked with the Michigan Legislature, HIV advocates, and HIV service providers to amend the Public Health Code statutes related to HIV. Changes include an updated HIV disclosure law, increased perinatal HIV/STD/Hepatitis B testing for at-risk women, reduced requirements for HIV testing consent, and modified HIV reporting and partner service requirements. Through this work, the health code now reflects the advancements in HIV science and the evolution of our processes and practices. The webinar is designed for health care providers who are seeking to improve their relationships, practices, and knowledge related to HIV and STD prevention and care public health code laws. Changes to perinatal care, testing algorithms and processes, partner services, opt-out testing, and the HIV criminal laws will be discussed and enable the learner to make necessary changes at their agency to assure they are compliant with these new laws.
