Course Description:

This home study course reviews some of the more common sleep disorders while addressing the aforementioned issues. It explores the architecture, physiology, and endocrinology of sleep; the causes and comorbidities of sleep disorders, and their diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and management. It reports recent clinical and scientific findings on various pharmacological treatments and non-pharmacological treatments as well as recommendations regarding good “sleep hygiene” and other sleep-aiding measures – information which provides social workers the tools they need to educate, assist, and counsel their patients on how to get adequate amounts of restful sleep.Overall, the purpose of this INR Health Update is to provide social workers with the necessary information to help their patients combat sleep disorders and reduce their risk for them in the future and thereby safeguard their well-being, functioning, relationships, and health.
