Human Trafficking 101: What Social Workers Need to Know When Interacting with Survivors

Course Description:

Human Trafficking is a multi-layered and complex dynamic that spans the world and impacts local communities as well. Designed for professionals that have limited knowledge and/or interaction with victims/survivors, this workshop will discuss the implications of trafficking, the effect on those involved and provide methods of assisting survivors.

Social Workers are in a unique situation due to our varied occupations within the health field to interact daily with victims and survivors of human trafficking. Sadly, many of us are not trained in identifying victims and causes, nor trained to provide interventions and assistance. This workshop will shed light on this vile crime that impacts over 40 million people globally and thousands in the US. Information on the how to interact, how to assist and resources needed will be shared. The many myths and misinformation about human trafficking with be discussed.
