The Opioid Crisis: Collaborating to Improve Outcomes in the Child Welfare System

Course Description:

This training will provide information about cross-system collaboration efforts to better serve children and families affected by the opioid crisis. Participants will gain an understanding of the science of addiction and how addiction impacts the brain. In addition, information will be provided about Medication Assisted Treatment, best practices for courts when handling cases in which parental substance abuse is a contributing factor in the placement of children in foster care, legislative updates to combat the opioid epidemic, and policy and training updates from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
