Course Description:

Understand the new pharmacological guidelines in medication management for Parkinson's patients and the side effects associated with time management of the drug

Understand the cognitive decline, mobility decline, nutritional decline associated with Parkinson's and differentiate it from other neurologic disorders.

Explain the swallowing mechanisms and nutritional barriers that are associated with Parkinsons and its new nutritional guidelines and the importance of speech and nutrition pathology in the treatment of Parkinson.

Understand the patient centered approach to Parkinsons care in the LTC and short term skilled nursing facilities and what barriers there are in caring out these guidelines

Understand LTC best practices for Parkinson's patients and fall prevention interventions

Understand the cause of dyskinsea and motor fluctuations and how to treat them.
