  • Posma Center at Pine Rest 300 68th Street Southeast Grand Rapids, MI, 49548 United States (map)

Course Description:

Ethics and legal mandates are more than guiding principles, they are foundations for practice. This seminar will provide an overview of the Code of Ethics and laws as well as explore the many slippery slopes in boundaries and dual roles, social engagement, use of media, confidentiality, etc. Focused attention will be given to the changes in the Code of Ethics (2017). A model to guide decision making will be explored

Emotional pain is recognized in clients that have experienced trauma and difficult life events. Conscientious workers are vulnerable to the client’s experiences and often experience compassion fatigue. This session will focus on techniques for managing emotional pain for both the client and the worker
