Course Description:
This is an initial training about the evidence-based practice of motivational interviewing. This practice is used to assist individuals who are at the early stages of a change process. This is not intended to be an advanced skills training but will instead provide you with tools and strategies to understand and implement motivational interviewing. The scope of this training will:
Explain the theory of motivational interviewing
Teach types of reflective listening
Learn how to listen for and recognize change talk
Develop list of interventions or items that do not work
